Motril Fire Station has received an investment of €87,229 aimed at upgrading its facilities and acquiring new personal protective equipment. The initiative is part of the investment plan being implemented by the Provincial Consortium for Fire Prevention, Extinction and Rescue Services in Granada.
The presentation of the new resources was attended by the Deputy for Municipal Assistance and Emergencies, Eduardo Martos, the Mayor of Motril, Luisa García Chamorro, and the Councillor for Public Safety, José Miguel Peña.
The funding has been divided into two main areas. First, the complete renovation of the fire station’s kitchen, with a budget of €48,729, which has provided new equipment adapted to the daily use of the firefighters, including a gas cooker, oven, fry top, refrigerators, countertops, and a large-capacity washing machine.
Secondly, €38,500 has been allocated for the purchase of AK RESCUE technical rescue and forestry uniforms. This Category III personal protective equipment, consisting of a flame-retardant jacket and trousers, is designed for use in rescues, traffic accidents, and wildfire response. It provides improvements in ergonomics, comfort, breathability, and visibility, enhancing both safety and efficiency in different types of operations.
Motril City Council has underlined that the fire station not only serves the municipality but also part of the surrounding region, which makes these investments particularly significant. The mayor also announced that three new firefighters will soon be joining the local force.
