New Year’s Concert 2026 – A Celebration of Musical Brilliance
Welcome to an evening where music becomes celebration, elegance and cultural connection. Tonight invites us to bid farewell to the year by enjoying the richness of two musical traditions: the passion and joy of Spanish zarzuela, and the sophistication and charm of Viennese waltzes, along with surprises that connect us to rhythms from other worlds.
First Part: Zarzuela, Iberian Charm
We open the evening by immersing ourselves in the vibrant essence of zarzuela. This year, we have carefully selected some of the most beloved and beautiful pieces in the repertoire—from the sparkling La Boda de Luis Alonso by Gerónimo Giménez to deeply emotional moments from Pablo Luna’s zarzuela Benamor. The melodic richness, tradition and dramatic strength of these works transport us to the heart of Spain’s musical heritage, offering a journey through the passion and ingenuity of a genre that has captivated audiences for generations.
Intermission: A Bridge of Emotions
During the intermission, take a moment to reflect on the fusion of styles and emotions that shaped the first part of the evening. Prepare for a journey into the elegance and brilliance of Vienna… and beyond.
Second Part: Waltzes and Melodies of the World
The second half immerses us in the grace and sophistication of Johann Strauss’s Viennese waltzes, with iconic works such as The Blue Danube and the energetic Trisch-Trasch Polka. But tonight we venture beyond the boundaries of the classical repertoire: we include a piece by maestro Ernesto López Mindreau, inspired by Peru’s most celebrated dance, and a work by Joe Hisaishi, chosen from the soundtrack of Howl’s Moving Castle for its beauty. The evening concludes with the majestic Blue Danube and the traditional Radetzky March, bidding farewell with nobility, enthusiasm and harmony.
May this evening serve as a tribute to musical diversity and to music’s unique ability to unite hearts, transcend borders and offer moments of pure beauty. Welcome to the New Year’s Concert!
