On Thursday evening, an 80-year-old man lost his life after being struck by the metro at the Avenida Argentinita station on Luis Amador Street in Granada. The accident took place around 7:15 p.m., as the metro, headed toward Albolote, hit the elderly man. Initial investigations suggest the man may have tripped while attempting to cross, with the pedestrian light showing red.

Security footage from the Andalusian regional government, which manages the metro service, confirmed that the light was green for the metro at the time of the incident. Police, fire, and emergency medical teams were immediately dispatched to the scene, and paramedics attempted CPR to revive the man, but he was pronounced dead at the site.

The accident led to a temporary halt in metro service and the evacuation of passengers. The National Police set up a security cordon to clear the area, while Local Police managed traffic along Avenida Argentinita to facilitate emergency response efforts.

Metro service was partially suspended, with routes operating only between Albolote and the bus station on one side, and La Caleta and Armilla on the other, until full service resumed around 10 p.m. The National Police have initiated judicial protocols and launched an investigation to clarify the exact circumstances of the incident.
