This weekend, the Palacio de los Condes de Gabia, located in the heart of Granada (Plaza de los Girones, 1), welcomes its first visitors to Sculpture, Art of Ingenuity, a group exhibition featuring ten contemporary artists either born in Granada or closely linked to the province. Curated by Óscar Alonso, the show will remain open until 11 January 2026 in the palace’s Upper Hall.

The Deputy for Culture and Education, Pilar Caracuel, highlighted during the opening that “it is a tribute to the creative vitality of Granada and to a generation of artists who, without renouncing formal experimentation, engage with our present through complex and suggestive narratives. Sculpture, Art of Ingenuity demonstrates that contemporary sculpture remains a living language, capable of building bridges between disciplines and emotions.”

Caracuel also added: “The Palacio de los Condes de Gabia once again becomes a reference space for contemporary creation. We invite the public and visitors alike to discover these works, which are not only a testimony of artistic excellence, but also a meeting point to reflect on how we narrate our experiences and emotions through art.”

For his part, curator Óscar Alonso underlined: “In this exhibition we have great artists with the ability, at a formal level, to organise shapes with a very succinct appearance, sometimes resorting to very discreet craftsmanship and, in many cases, quite a cold finish. All this paradoxically gives rise to that art of ingenuity that conveys profoundly sensitive and emotional content.”

A generation of creators

The exhibition brings together works by Alegría y Piñero, Elena Vicente Herranz, Roberto Urbano, Javier Map, Pablo Capitán del Río, Álvaro Albaladalejo, Fernando G. Méndez, Natalia Domínguez, Timsam Harding and Hodei Herreros. These artists, aged between 28 and 50, explore sculpture as a shared language of references and experiences woven through workshops, residencies and collective projects.

Their works incorporate methodologies from disciplines such as literature, music, psychology, physics and architecture, offering a journey full of paradoxes and hidden codes that recall the Baroque conceptismo.

Practical information

The exhibition will run until 11 January 2026. Opening hours are Monday to Saturday, from 11:00 to 14:00 and 18:00 to 21:00, and Sundays and public holidays, from 11:00 to 14:00.
