Motril Sends Food and Aid to Storm-Hit Valencia, Along with Firefighters, Police, and Ambulance Support

Motril has sent over 100,000 kilos of food and supplies to Valencia, along with a team of firefighters, 23 police officers, an ambulance, vehicles, and a drone with its operator, to support areas most affected by the DANA storms. This initiative, organized by the Motril City Council and AECOST, mobilized resources and volunteers from across the city, with support from institutions, businesses, and residents in a remarkable show of solidarity with the victims of the disaster. Mayor Luisa García thanked all participants, from security forces to volunteers and businesses that provided vehicles at no cost.

The aid convoy includes a team of 12 Local Police officers and 11 National Police officers, five trailers for transporting supplies, and an ambulance for medical assistance. A drone will also be used to monitor hard-to-reach areas. Additionally, the Motril Bakers’ Association contributed 1,000 kilos of bread. Upon arrival in Valencia, the team will coordinate distribution with the local command center, prioritizing the the areas most in need.

Moreover, a team of firefighters has joined ongoing rescue support in Alfafar, working 12-hour shifts to relieve the current team and ensure continuity of rescue operations.
