Town halls across the Costa Tropical have united in grief following the catastrophic high-speed train collision in Toledo. Responding to a national call to action by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), local councils in Motril, Almuñécar, Salobreña, Gualchos-Castell de Ferro, and Polopos-La Mamola have convened a simultaneous minute of silence set for 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 28.

Citizens in each municipality have been invited to gather outside their respective town halls and central plazas—including Plaza de España in Motril and the main municipal square in Almuñécar—to pay homage to the victims, offer condolences to grieving families, and express solidarity with emergency rescue teams working at the crash site.

In light of the profound tragedy, local administrations are adjusting civic calendars out of respect. The Town Hall of Salobreña announced the immediate suspension and postponement of all Halloween activities originally planned for October 31 and November 1. Municipal officials emphasized that holding festive events during a period of widespread sorrow would be inappropriate, confirming that rescheduled dates will be announced once circumstances allow.
