Motril is getting ready to celebrate the traditional Día de la Cruz in a new setting, at the Paseo de las Explanadas promenade. From May 3rd to 5th, this emblematic location will become the epicenter of the festivity, hosting not only the municipal cross but also a wide range of activities.

The municipal cross will pay tribute to three key elements for the city: sugarcane, rum, and coffee. Adorned with flowers specially cultivated for the occasion in the municipal nursery, this cross will be the symbol of the festive and traditional spirit that permeates the celebration.

The major novelty this year is the concentration of all activities in a single space, the spacious and orderly Explanadas promenade. Here, horsemen, itinerant floats, and the general public will find their place to enjoy the music, fun, and tradition that characterize the May Crosses in Motril.

With nearly forty crosses adorning the streets, this festival promises to fill the city with color and joy. The Parks and Gardens Service of the City Council has worked tirelessly to beautify Motril with gardens full of life and color. Thanks to the intensive cultivation of seasonal plants in the municipal nursery, the streets, squares, and public parks will be flooded with the floral beauty that characterizes this time of year.
