A 29-year-old detainee with an extensive criminal record sparked a dramatic scene on Tuesday at Granada’s Neurotraumatology and Rehabilitation Hospital. The man, under National Police custody, requested medical assistance for alleged knee and shoulder injuries. Upon his arrival, officers were met with over 70 of his relatives waiting outside the hospital, reportedly planning to assist in his escape.

To avoid any security breaches, police diverted the detainee through a rear entrance and set up a security perimeter around the facility. The situation escalated as tensions grew between officers and family members attempting to approach the restricted area. Additional police reinforcements were called in to maintain order, while the detainee was escorted to receive medical attention. During his treatment, he allegedly threatened hospital staff and demanded to stay overnight.

After completing his medical evaluation, the man was safely returned to police custody. Thanks to the officers’ swift response, no injuries or arrests were reported among the family members, who eventually dispersed. The detainee now awaits a court appearance, while authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the planned escape.
